Iron Man 3 (2013)
I picked up Iron Man 3 on Friday, sat around at home mostly feeling ill, so I thought I’d watch it this afternoon.
Liked it, Gwyneth Paltrow has a little more of an action role this time around and looked great doing it. Downey Jr did his thing as Tony Stark again, although honestly having recently watched the second Sherlock film, I think he’s doing too much of the typecast ‘unhinged genius’. Guy Pearce plays the bad guy, still amazes me that he came from a soap opera background. I guess we all have to start somewhere.
Pretty good entry in the series, thankfully it wasn’t literally one action scene on top of another, the guys making these Marvel films really seem to have nailed the formula – there was a trailer for the second Thor film on there and that looked good too. With the way this ended, I doubt we’ll see another Iron Man film, but it’s probably about the right time to wrap the series up. Three decently enjoyable films is a pretty good run in my book.
There was also an advert for some stupid Lego Marvel game. I remember when all lego men had smily faces instead of smug aggressive smirks. Not everything changes for the best.
